Tutorial -:- How to choose a Firewall -

Choosing a firewall can be hard. Where do you start? What do you look for?

We will walk you through the process of choosing a firewall.

Where do I get a Firewall?

Well there are lots of places to pick up good firewall's. However you MUST trust the source you use to download the firewall from. You can have a look through sites like cnet's download.com. Just type 'firewall' into the search field and it will show you lots of firewall's.

Have a look through and read the reviews written by people who have downloaded the software before you. Some of the more popular picks are, ZoneAlarm 5.1.033, Sygate Personal Firewall 5.5, Tiny Personal Firewall 5.5, and many more.

Always check with your ISP about any Firewall's that they recommend. Some ISP's like AOL have problems with some firewall's. Check before you download anything.

When you have chosen the firewall you prefer you need to download the installation file to your computer. I would always recommend that you visit the Publishers website to make sure you get the latest version.

Follow the download instructions on the publishers website. You may have to register to use the software. Some companies charge a licence fee before you can download there products. We like ZoneAlarm from ZoneLabs because the basic version is good enough for most users and its FREE.

Once you have chosen a firewall that suits you (if you are still not sure try ZoneAlarm) download the file and save it on your desktop.
